Are you looking for home remedies for collagenous colitis? Continue reading this article and find out what are the best remedies for this type of colitis. But first.

Collagenous colitis is a type of microscopic colitis. Microscopic colitis is a type of colitis that can only be identified by examining colon cells under a microscope. There are two types of microscopic colitis: collagenous and lymphocytic colitis. In collagenous colitis, a collagen layer covers the tissues of the colon. This condition has similar symptoms as ulcerative colitis, episodically – through bouts that alternate with remission. Before we get into the home remedies for collagenous colitis, let’s see the common symptoms.

5 Natural Remedies for Fermentation Colitis

Symptoms of Collagenous Colitis

Collagenous colitis has different manifestations from patient to patient, but the most common symptoms are:

  • Chronic diarrhea (between 4-20 bowel movements/day, with or without blood)
  • Abdominal pain and cramps
  • Dehydration
  • Weight loss
  • Nausea, vomiting
  • Flatulence
  • Fecal incontinence
  • Anemia

While considered an autoimmune disease by the medical community, which translates to cause and treatment unknown, collagenous colitis can be cured. Through my research, I understood there is no such thing as an autoimmune disease, but a disease that the medical community doesn’t yet understand. For this, I recommend you look into Anthony William’s Medical Medium books. These books are eye-opening and put diseases such as collagenous colitis into a new perspective.

Collagenous colitis can be healed. You have to trust and know this. Nature has some amazing remedies for colitis. Here are 2 very old home remedies for collagenous colitis that have proven their efficiency in time. We hope this is helpful to you!

1. Folk Remedy for Colitis

This old remedy for colitis uses the chicken gizzard. Peel the inner yellow linen of the inside of the chicken gizzard, the one that you can easily remove. Dry and grind it in the coffee grinder. On the first day of treatment, have 1 tsp of this powder. If you still have a too-soft stool the next day, take 2 tsp of the powder. Take 3 tsp of this powder on the third day if you didn’t see any improvements yet. Although it tastes bitter, most people say that 1 tsp of this powder is enough to stop the collagenous colitis from bothering you. This is one of the most powerful home remedies for collagenous colitis.

2. Collagenous Colitis Remedy with Goat Rennet & Cow’s Cheese

As simple as it sounds, this is one of the best home remedies for collagenous colitis. This is how you make this cottage cheese at home.

  • Boil 1 liter of cow’s milk on low heat and after a few boils, add 8 calcium lactate tablets.
  • Stir continuously until the milk starts to curd and breaks apart.
  • Use a cheesecloth to strain the whey from the cheese you’ve just made.
  • After most of the liquid has drained, you now have fresh unfermented cheese.

Have a few tablespoons of this fresh cow’s cheese a day, mixed with 1 tbsp of goat rennet. One tbsp of natural goat rennet daily is enough to see results.

Diet Recommendations for Collagenous Colitis

In the case of collagenous colitis, diet is key for healing from collagenous colitis. Have lots of unsalted boiled rice, boiled carrots, toast, soups, and a bit of yogurt (that helps restore intestinal flora). But most importantly enjoy as many boiled/steamed fruits and veggies. The best probiotics in nature are the microorganisms that live on the skins of fruits and veggies, right when you pick them from. If you have organic farms nearby, go and pick some fruit and eat it as is. Your body will enjoy the healthy probiotics that you put in. Avoid fried foods, greasy foods, meats, and delis. Have plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, stay in the sun, enjoy nature, and stress less.

Hello Patti! Follow a diet that sustains your body’s health and fights pathogens at the same time. That is, fresh fruit and veggies with skin(!!!) first and foremost, as they are the only natural source of natural probiotics (look into Medical Medium), steamed/boiled vegetables, wild-caught fish (occasionally), fresh-made juices from fruits and vegetables and boiled rice, millet and buckwheat, boiled carrots, oven-dried bread/raw bread, light veggie soups. Avoid conventional flour as conventional wheat is sprayed with glyphosate – highly toxic!!! (buy organic whole flour for bread), food preservatives and colorants, alcohol, coffee, fermented drinks, chocolate, cocoa, fried foods, junk food, oily foods, eggs, meats, and dairy (ocassionally sheep or goat yogurt/cheese, as these are more friendly with our gut compared to cow dairy). Go out in nature, spend time in the sun, and if possible do a heavy metals detox (link here https://www.mynaturaltreatment.com/heavy-metals-detox-how-to/), as colitis is caused by pathogens feeding on body toxicity. I also recommend that you read our article on natural remedies for colitis, link here https://www.mynaturaltreatment.com/natural-treatments-for-colitis/. Much health to you! 💚🌿

I don’t see how you can legitimately call this a cure. If a person goes back on a typical American diet they will have trouble again. It may help, but it doesn’t cure the disease. I find just watching my diet carefully works better than anything. If I veer from it I may have consequences.

Hi, Muriel! You are absolutely correct. The typical American diet is a highly inflammatory diet that in itself is the root cause for most of today’s health conditions. When you add other toxic things into your body (medical drugs, pollutants, pesticides, etc), and many people do, you have a recipe for disaster. I’m not going to lie to you. There is no miraculous pill that you can take for a chronic condition such as collagenous colitis. Eating a healthy diet is the first thing to consider and not just for one day or for now, but for the rest of your life. The idea is to not go back on the typical American diet. You got that right. Much health to you! 🌿💚
